Survey & Design

Our team at Rich River Irrigation Developments provides an extensive range of surveying services, and are licensed in Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. Whether you need surveys for irrigation, engineering, farm planning, title boundaries, or otherwise, RRID’s team have got you covered.

Survey

Broad Acre

Wide area GPS survey of existing conditions and/or natural terrain, marking levels and objects. Mainly used by RRID in our Whole Farm Planning.

Detail & Topographical

High level detail survey used for planning and construction, assesses every aspect of the area including hills, dams, channels, drains, roads, power lines, tree heights and locations, fences, buildings, and more.

Construction

Set-out surveys for earthworks, building, and civil construction.

Work as Executed

WAE and As Built surveys assess compliance of completed earthworks and construction, to ensure they conform to the original design.

Site Analysis

Identifying locations, levels, and details of existing buildings, features and services on site and nearby. Used for project design and development but required by councils for Town Planning and building applications.

Flood Level

Determine areas impacted by flooding, providing minimum heights for building floors, damns, retaining walls, and other structures in flood areas.

Design

Surface & Spray Irrigation

There is more to spray irrigation than just the machine, RRID can look at your farm’s unique layout and help you to make the right purchases of irrigation hardware, pumps, and pipes, as well as managing the set up and maintenance of your system. See our Irrigation Hardware Sales & Services page for more information.

Irrigation Infrastructure

Channel and drain modelling, water storages, pumps and pipelines, field grade mapping and design, and all associated earthworks.

Feedlot Design

RRID can design feedlots and everything they encompass; paddocks and cattle-yards, irrigation and drainage, effluence management, feeding systems and food storage, sheds and stables, and anything else your feedlot could require. We can also facilitate the earthworks and construction for your project, if required.

Civil Engineering

As well as specialising in irrigation infrastructure and feedlot design, RRID can provide our civil engineering services for other agricultural, industrial or residential projects. We have worked on retaining walls, roads, ramps, carparks and pavements, drainage systems, and more!

What equipment do we use?

Our surveys are completed with either Trimble GPS or Total Station equipment, to determine locations and levels to a high accuracy. We can also complete surveys using drones, and although the accuracy isn’t as precise as conventional GPS, drones allow us to survey areas that can’t be accessed via conventional methods.

Environmental Assessments

The environment is an important consideration of any development. RRID can identify regulatory constraints that may apply to your project, undertake preliminary assessments, gain pre-application advice and liaise with government departments to get your approvals.

With RRID you can trust that your development meets all its environmental requirements, so your project can keep moving forward.

Native Vegetation

Native vegetation is vital to our landscape. RRID understands the life stages of native vegetation within farming areas, so we can work with you to minimise the impact of your development and identify areas where good-quality native vegetation can be protected.

Where native vegetation will be effected, we undertake preliminary assessments in conjunction with current legislation to identify the best outcome for all.

How can we help you?

  • Native vegetation assessments, including habitat hectares
  • Vegetation offset plans
  • Pre-application advice

Environmental Statements and Cultural Heritage

Australia’s environment and rich cultural heritage must always be considered when planning any developments. By liaising with the Traditional Owners of your land, as well as environmental specialists, RRID can create accurate and comprehensive statements and reports relevant to your agricultural development.

  • Statement of Environmental Effects
  • Environmental Impact Statements
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • Environmental Management Plan
  • Cultural Heritage and Traditional Owner liaisons

Flood Studies

Being located so close to the Murray River, RRID understands the importance of flood studies and the information they provide. By defining existing flood behaviour like levels and extent, identifying problem areas, and assessing the impact of climate change on flooding, RRID can help create management plans for developments in flood-prone areas.

Effluent Management Plans

Each dairy has individual needs when it comes to managing effluence. RRID can develop an effective Effluent Management Plan that considers your farm’s individual soil, waterways, volume, individual management options, and existing and proposed infrastructure. We can also complete site suitability assessments to make sure your farm meets your needs, before going ahead with any design work.

Applications

Paperwork and application forms are not something that anyone enjoys. Why not let RRID take this task off your hands? We can assist with pre-planning meetings with government organisations, preparing relevant plans and environmental statements, completing forms and keeping you up to date with the progress of your application.
